Christ Lutheran Annual Community BBQ

Fun was the order of the day at our Second Annual Community Barbecue, Open House, and Partners Fair on Bouncy CastleThursday, September 11. Between 300-400 individuals, families, and organization/business representatives streamed to the church grounds for free food, children’s activities (face painting and the bouncy castle are shown in the photo at the right), live musical entertainment, indoor displays, and lot of meeting and greeting as our neighbours spent time with each other and made new friends.

The weather was cool and windy, and right on cue, the closure of  Lexington Road added a challenge factor for people arriving by car; but the tents visible from Davenport Road, yummy cooking smells, and festive clusters of balloons on our three-acre property served as a magnet for the curious and the hungry.

If you missed coming this year, circle Thursday, September 17th, 2015 on your calendar. We look forward to seeing you!

Pastor James 20th Anniversary with Christ Lutheran

Paula+James1894The Congregation gathers this coming Sunday, May 4, to celebrate Pastor James’ (PJ’s) long tenure as minister of Christ Church. Worshippers are invited to stay for a potluck lunch, beginning at 11:30 a.m. There will be entertainment after the meal, with a bit of reminiscing, a little song and dance, and possibly even a roast of the incumbent.

It is rare for pastors to stay in one parish for so many years, but the people of the Christ Church parish have been very kind to their ministers over the years. In fact, only three pastors have served the congregation since its beginning – Pastor Roy Grosz, Pastor George Mayer, and PJ. Pictured to the left are Pastor James and Paula, a photograph taken at a wedding they attended shortly after Pastor James was installed at Christ Church in 1894.
